Karl Gustav Heiland
Karl Gustav Heiland (born August 17, 1817 in Herzberg (Elster) , † December 16, 1868 in Magdeburg ) was a German philologist, grammar school director and educational writer.
Life
Heiland studied at the University of Leipzig . As a teacher at the cathedral high school in Halberstadt , he entered the civil service in 1840. In 1850 he became director of the Oelser Gymnasium in Oels . In 1854 he moved to Stendal and in 1856 to the Wilhelm-Ernst-Gymnasium Weimar . In 1860 he was appointed to the provincial school council of the province of Saxony in Magdeburg as a school councilor .
As a writer, Heiland has particularly distinguished himself through his contributions to Karl Adolf Schmid's Encyclopedia of the Entire Education and Teaching System. He also got an edition of Xenophons Agesilaos (1847).
