Karl Hartmann (born April 15, 1893 in Löwenberg , Province of Silesia , † January 16, 1973 in Wissen ) was a German politician ( KPD ).

Life

Hartmann attended elementary school before starting an apprenticeship as a carpenter. In 1911 he joined the Free Trade Union . Between 1913 and 1919 he did his military service and then became a participant in the First World War . After the war, Hartmann took a job as a journeyman, which he carried out until 1924. Between 1924 and 1933 he was a workers' secretary in Bunzlau . After the seizure of power , he was taken into protective custody for allegedly illegal activities . He later worked as a sales representative, controller and deputy managing director in a magazine distributor. In the war year 1942 he was drafted into the police reserve and was taken prisoner by the Soviets . From captivity, he returned to Silesia and in 1946 from Petersdorf in the Giant Mountains distributed .

Hartmann became a member of the Refugee Council for the British Zone . He was a member of the SPD between 1920 and 1945. In 1946 he switched to the KPD. He became head of the local politics department in the state executive committee of the KPD in Lower Saxony. He was active as a city councilor and city councilor. He was also elected a member of the district council and became a district committee member. He was a member of the provincial committee and the district committee.

Hartmann became a member of the Hanover Provincial Parliament . He was also a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament during the first election period from April 20, 1947 to April 30, 1951. During this time he was elected chairman of the KPD parliamentary group from January 3, 1950 to September 8, 1950.
