Karl Heinz Bierlein

Karl Heinz Bierlein (* 1951 in Kempten ) is a former German Evangelical Lutheran pastor . From 1997 to 2007 he was chairman of the board of the Rummelsberger Anstalten and rector of the Rummelsberg Brotherhood .

Life

Bierlein studied theology in Neuendettelsau , Göttingen and Tübingen. From 1977 to 1979 he worked as vicar at the Deutschhauskirche in Würzburg. After his ordination in 1979 in Windsbach, he worked there until 1982 as study inspector of the Windsbach Boys Choir . In 1982 he moved to the Collegium Augustinum in Munich, where he held various functions, including from 1988 that of a board member. In 1994 he did his doctorate in Neuendettelsau on the subject of life balance and future prospects in old age.

Finally, in 1997 he moved to Rummelsberg and took over the chairmanship of the Rummelsberg Institutions of the Inner Mission eV and became rector of the Rummelsberg Brotherhood. Since 2000 he has also been chairman of the Diaconal Council in the Diakonisches Werk in Bavaria and chairman of the German Evangelical Association for Elderly Work and Care eV (DEVAP).

From 2010 to November 2011 Bierlein was chairman of the board of Johannes Seniorendienste eV in Bonn. However, he led them to bankruptcy. His successor is the lawyer and insolvency administrator Ludger Emanuel Westrick.

He then became a board member of the German Foundation for Dementia Patients in Cologne and is still today (as of August 2018).

Condemnation

At the end of 2007 allegations were made against him that there had been "border crossings" in dealing with deacon students from the Rummelsberg establishments. He was accused of having physically abused deacons as part of “dubious psychological experiments”.

Due to the allegations made against him, Bierlein announced on December 13, 2007 his immediate resignation from the office of chairman of the board of the Rummelsberger Anstalten and from the office of rector of the Rummelsberg Brotherhood. He has also resigned from all other offices. For dangerous bodily harm in six cases, the district court of Hersbruck issued a penalty order , accepted by Bierlein , in which a suspended sentence of eleven months in prison and a fine of 10,000 euros were set.

On December 31, 2009 he was dismissed from the service of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Bavaria . The regional church council had approved a corresponding request from Pastor Bierlein.

Awards

For his services, Bierlein was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1996, the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2004 and the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2006. Due to the conviction and his previous conviction, however, he no longer belongs to any of the three circles of dignitaries. He was also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Nürnberger Land.
