Karl Heinz Hock
Karl Heinz Hock (born December 13, 1930 in Rüdesheim am Rhein ; † July 31, 2017 in Mainz ) was a German journalist and publicist .
Life
His journalistic career began in the Rheingau . From 1963 to 1980 he headed the office of the news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) in Mainz, was the state political correspondent for Rhineland-Palatinate and was spokesman for the state press conference for four years. Between 1980 and 1986 he worked as deputy editor-in-chief of the Allgemeine Zeitung (Mainz) .
From 1986 to mid-1996 he worked as editor-in-chief of the Catholic News Agency (KNA) in Bonn; his successor was Helmut S. Ruppert . He expanded the news agency with state offices and state services across the board, including from 1989 in the new federal states and Berlin. He cultivated his friendships with Karl Lehmann and Helmut Kohl . For many years he was chairman of the “ Centrum informationis catholicum ” (CIC) in Rome, supported by news agencies from Germany (KNA), Austria (Kathpress) and Switzerland (Kipa), the Netherlands (KNP) and Belgium (CIP) . From 1994 to 1998 he was chairman of the Catholic Press Association (KPB).
From 1996 until his death, Hock worked as a freelance journalist. In 2001 his book "Am liebsten heiter" was published.
