Karl Heinz Malzer (born November 19, 1942 in Pleystein ) is a German music teacher and choir director.

Career

Malzer studied from 1963 to 1967 at the State University of Music in Munich to become a teacher at grammar schools. Already at that time there was great interest in the direction of the choir (Prof. Fritz Schieri ) and musicology with Erich Valentin . From 1969 he taught at the Augustinus-Gymnasium Weiden , from 1985 until his retirement in 2008 he worked in this profession at the Gymnasium Neustadt an der Waldnaab . From 1986 to 1992 he also held a teaching position at the Faculty of Education at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .

From 1976 to 2013 he was a member of the Presidium of the Franconian Singing Association (FSB) and was responsible for developing youth work there from 1977 to 1994. From October 1993–2013 he was federal choir director of the FSB. In 1981 he founded the FSB's youth choir and has been its director ever since. He also founded the choir "Mixtura Cantorum" in 1992, which he also directs to this day.

In 2018 he published the book " Franz Gleißner und seine Zeit" (1761-1818). A picture of the life of Bavarian music history. ISBN 978-3-00-061647-1 .
