Karl Jäger (politician)
Karl Jäger (born January 12, 1916 in Stralsund , † February 20, 1989 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Karl Jäger attended primary school and then did an apprenticeship as a carpenter . From 1937 to 1945 he was a soldier in the Wehrmacht , at the end of the Second World War he was taken prisoner by the British .
After the war, Jäger became a carpenter for the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). In 1949 he joined the SPD. In 1954 he became a works council and from 1957 chairman of the staff council at BVG. In the Berlin election in 1958 he was elected to the district assembly in the Neukölln district. In December 1961, the then Interior Senator Joachim Lipschitz died , so that Jäger moved up to the Berlin House of Representatives . In 1963 he left parliament.
