Karl Johann Nikolaus Piepho
Karl Johann Nikolaus Piepho (born March 25, 1869 in Frankfurt am Main , † May 23, 1920 in Munich ) was a German still life, landscape and portrait painter.
After completing a commercial training, Piepho studied from 1888 at the Stuttgart Art School and from 1890 at the Grand Ducal Baden Art School in Karlsruhe with Caspar Ritter and Hermann Baisch . From 1894 to 1895 he continued his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris.
Piepho settled in Munich in 1895, joined the Dachau artists' colony around 1900 , and went on study trips to Holland , Lorraine and Belgium .
His works can be found in the collections of the Neue Pinakothek Munich and the Dessau art collections.
