Karl Jungbluth
Karl Jungbluth (born March 17, 1903 in Hanover , † January 12, 1945 in Dresden ) was a German communist and anti-fascist resistance fighter .
Life
Jungbluth was the son of a typesetter. After attending elementary school, he trained as an optician. In 1933/34 he was part of the leadership of a KPD resistance group in Chemnitz. In April 1934 he was arrested and sentenced to 20 months in prison. After his release from prison he continued the resistance against National Socialism in Leipzig . After the beginning of the Second World War he belonged to the Saxon resistance organization Schumann-Engert-Kresse-Gruppe led by Georg Schumann . Together with William Zipperer and Arthur Hoffmann he formed a group.
In July 1944 he was arrested like most members of this resistance organization. On November 23 and 24, the Dresden People's Court sentenced the resistance fighters to death. The judgments against Georg Schumann, Otto Engert and Kurt Kresse were carried out on January 11, 1945 in the courtyard of the Dresden Regional Court and those against Karl Jungbluth, William Zipperer, Arthur Hoffmann, Alfred Frank , Georg Schwarz , Richard Lehmann , Wolfgang Heinze and other resistance fighters there one day later.
His grave is in the Leipzig south cemetery .
