Karl Korn ( 1852 in Wadowitz - 1906 in Bielitz ) was a German architect and building contractor who, together with Emanuel Rost and Andreas Walczok, determined the appearance of the center of Bielitz and Biala in the 19th century.

Life

Karl Korn, who came from a Jewish family, finished his studies at the Polytechnic University in Karlsruhe and at the University of Vienna . He then worked as an assistant at the technical school in Bern .

In 1882 Karl Korn founded an architecture and construction company that was continued by his son Felix after his death . Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria-Hungary awarded Karl Korn the title of Imperial and Royal Building Councilor . Korn was the founder of the Support Association of the University of Vienna, a member of the Corps Franconia and an administrative member of the Israelite Confessional Congregation.

In 1998 a street in Bielitz-Biala was named after Karl Korn. His family still lives in the city today.

On September 8, 2009, a new burial place for Karl Korn was completed in the Jewish cemetery in Bielsko-Biała on Kaiserstrasse. The new grave was donated by his descendants and citizens of Bielitz-Biala.
