Karl Kowarik (musician)
Karl Kowarik (born March 6, 1922 in Vienna ; † September 1, 2002 ibid) was an Austrian jazz and entertainment musician ( alto saxophone and clarinet ).
After 1945 Kowarik played with the Hot Club Vienna and then with Horst Winter's dance orchestra . He was also active in the orchestras of Willy Fantel, Johannes Fehring and Carl de Groof as well as in numerous other formations. Kowarik arranged for Art Farmer , the ORF Big Band , Marianne Mendt , but also Johannes Heesters and Freddy Quinn . He also recorded with Hans Koller , Karl Loubé and Claudius Alzner. He was also a saxophone teacher at the jazz department of the Vienna Conservatory . He was the teacher of important Austrian saxophonists including Hans Salomon , Wolfgang Puschnig , Martin Fuss , Klaus Dickbauer , Thomas Huber, Horst Hausleitner , Thomas Faulhammer .
