Karl Leuteritz

Karl Leuteritz (born December 29, 1922 in Miltitz ; † December 13, 2010 ) was a German lawyer and diplomat . From 1975 to 1980 he was ambassador to South Korea and from 1980 to 1983 ambassador to Jamaica .

Life

After attending school, Leuteritz began studying law at the University of Frankfurt , which he completed in 1954 with the first state examination in law. In Frankfurt, he was in the same year with the dissertation topic development and problems of English local government since 1944 to doctor of law doctorate .

Leuteritz joined the Foreign Service in 1952 . His diplomatic career led him as Vice Consul to the Consulate General in Amsterdam , as Consul to the Consulate General in Rotterdam and as Legation Councilor to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Asunción ( Paraguay ). From June 5, 1962 to 1966, as Consul 1st Class, he was permanent representative of the Consul General in Chicago . He then moved to the Foreign Office , where he was promoted to Lecturing Legation Councilor in 1968 and to Lecturing Legation Councilor 1st class in 1970. Until 1975 he was head of the Central and South America Department in the Foreign Office.

Leuteritz was accredited as ambassador to Seoul in 1975 and held this position until 1980. During his tenure in South Korea , he studied Korean and was an active member of the council of the Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch (RASKB), which he served as president until 1978. From March 1980 to 1983 he was ambassador at the German diplomatic mission in Kingston ( Jamaica ). At the same time he was accredited in Belmopan . From 1983 to 1987 he had exequatur as Consul General in the German Consulate General in Istanbul . In 1988 he retired.

Karl Leuteritz was married to Ingeborg, b. Hellwig, and had two daughters.
