Karl Ludwig Bender

Karl Ludwig Bender (born February 9, 1811 in Königsberg , † August 31, 1893 in Gumbinnen ) was a German teacher, journalist, landowner and parliamentarian.

Life

Karl Ludwig Bender studied philology and history at the Albertus University in Königsberg from 1830 to 1834 . At the beginning of his studies he became a member of the Corps Littuania . After graduating as Dr. phil. he initially worked as a teacher until 1851. In addition, he was from 1840 to 1850 employee of the Neue Königsberger Zeitung and from 1847 to 1851 city councilor in Königsberg. From 1851 he was a farmer and owner of the manor Katharinenhof near Tharau in the Preußisch Eylau district . he was co-founder and head of the agricultural association in Groß Lauth - Uderwangen .

From 1862 to 1867 for the constituency of Gumbinnen 3 and from 1867 to 1885 for the constituency of Königsberg 3 (city and district of Königsberg, Fischhausen), Bender was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for a total of 10 legislative periods . He belonged to the faction of the German Progressive Party .
