Karl Mastalier

Karl Mastalier (also Carl ; born November 16 or 21, 1731 in Vienna ; † October 6, 1795 ibid) was an Austrian poet and Jesuit .

Life

Mastalier entered the Jesuit order in 1749 . He earned a master's degree in philosophy and was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . He initially taught poetry and rhetoric in the order's Viennese professorship . After the Jesuit order was abolished, he became a full professor of fine sciences at the University of Vienna and a teacher at the Theresian Academy . He was also appointed titular canon in Laibach and a member of the Academy of Fine Arts.

Mastalier died unexpectedly of a stroke .
