Karl Meißner (born December 1, 1890 in Widdern , Württemberg ; † March 9, 1965 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After attending primary school, Karl Meißner trained as a gardener between 1905 and 19O8 and worked in the profession he had learned until 1927. From 1925 to 1926 he attended the Academy of Labor . From 1927 he was a full-time union employee and was dismissed for political reasons in 1933, arrested several times and placed under police supervision. He then worked as a freelance gardener until 1946. Since 1946 he has been working full-time again in the ÖTV trade union .

politics

Karl Meißner had been a member of the trade union and the SPD since 1908. He was a member of the general works council of the city administration of Frankfurt am Main and from 1924 its chairman. Until 1933 he was community representative in Frankfurt-Griesheim .

After 1945 he was a co-founder of the SPD in the Obertaunus district . For the SPD he was a member of the city council of Oberursel until 1952 . At the same time, he had been a member of the Obertaunus district council from 1946 and led the SPD parliamentary group there. From December 1, 1950 to November 30, 1962 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament.
