Karl Menser (born July 19, 1872 in Cologne , † November 10, 1929 in Zurich ) was a German sculptor and academic drawing teacher at the University of Bonn .

Life

Menser graduated from the Kreuzgasse high school in Cologne and received art lessons a. a. with Wilhelm Albermann . After years of study and traveling in Germany and other European countries, he lived and worked in his own workshop in Bonn since 1907 . From 1917 he taught as an academic drawing teacher, initially medical students, and later also art historians, archaeologists and other subjects. In 1918 or 1920 he received an honorary doctorate from the medical faculty.

In addition to sculptures, Menser also created busts (including of university professors) and plaques. On the occasion of the inauguration of the war memorial he had created at the University of Bonn, he was made an honorary citizen of the university in 1926.
