Karl Mylius (medic)
Karl Mylius (born November 22, 1896 in Goslar ; † January 10, 1991 ) was a German ophthalmologist and professor at the University of Hamburg .
Mylius graduated from secondary school in Goslar in 1914 and served in World War I until 1918. Then he studied medicine in Marburg, Göttingen and Hamburg. In 1922 he received his doctorate in Hamburg and worked at the Hamburg harbor hospital until 1923 . From 1923 he continued his training in the eye clinic of the General Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf . In 1928 he received his habilitation. In 1931 he became the senior physician at the Barmbek General Hospital , and in 1934 he was appointed a non-civil servant associate professor. Mylius was a member of the Stahlhelm , a member of the NSDAP and the Nazi Lecturer Association . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .
After 1945 Mylius was chief physician at the St. Georg eye clinic in Hamburg. 1968/69 Mylius was President of the German Ophthalmological Society .
The Heerfordt-Mylius syndrome is named after him.
