Nommensen belonged as a striker to the Altonaer FC from 1893 , for which he played in the regional league Groß-Hamburg point games in the championships organized by the North German Football Association from 1925 to 1928 . In the district league, which is divided into two districts, he and his team emerged victorious from the Elbe district for the first two seasons - the latter only after the 1-0 play-off for first place against Union 03 Altona - and most recently third. The two finals for the district championship in 1926 and 1927 were lost to Hamburger SV , winners from the age group, 5: 4 and 2: 0.

In the 1928/29 season , which was held once in a round of ten , he and his club took fifth place, which allowed him to participate in the final round of the North German Championship. The qualifying round won 6: 2 over VfB Komet Bremen and the 3: 1 quarter-final victory over SV Arminia Hannover made it to the final round, which finished fourth and last without winning any points.

From 1929 to 1933 , one of six major leagues was played in the ten clubs and not subdivided Oberliga Groß-Hamburg . In fifth place, his club took part in the final round of the North German Championship, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals with 2: 3 n.V. against Hannover 96 , as in the following season with 1: 3 at SV Arminia Hannover. In 1931/32 , second behind Hamburger SV in the Oberliga Groß-Hamburg, Altonaer FC from 1893 prevailed in a final round of the North German Championship as the winner of Group II in a four-group final and took third place in the final round .

In 1932/33 , again second behind Hamburger SV in the Oberliga Groß-Hamburg and now playing in Group I , Eimsbüttel TV with equal points decided the game for first place with 4: 1.

His last four seasons he played in the Gauliga Nordmark , one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Empire . With his team he finished fifth , seven , six and eighth . During this time, the Gaume Championship went to Eimsbütteler TV three times in a row and once to Hamburger SV.

In the competition for the Tschammerpokal , the cup competition for club teams, introduced in 1935 , he only played the first round match against Wacker 04 Berlin on June 14, 1936 ; in the 3: 5 defeat he scored the goals to 2: 5 and 3: 5 in the 77th and 82nd minute.

As a player in the national team of the North German Football Association, he took part in the competition for the national cup and reached the final scheduled for March 6, 1927 in the Altona stadium . With his selection in front of 18,000 spectators, he was defeated by the selection team of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs by Alfred Köhler , player of VfB Leipzig in the 87th minute, the winning goal to make it 0: 1.
