Karl Oberhauser

Karl Oberhauser (born December 9, 1932 in Issing ; † August 9, 2015 in Sterzing ) was a South Tyrolean politician.

biography

Oberhauser initially worked as a primary school teacher. In 1963 he was elected mayor of the city of Sterzing as a candidate of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP). During his ten-year term of office, the new construction of the local hospital fell. From 1973 to 1993 Oberhauser held a mandate as a representative of the SVP in the South Tyrolean state parliament and thus at the same time in the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . Between 1974 and 1984 he was a substitute state councilor in the Magnago IV and Magnago V cabinets of the South Tyrolean provincial government . From 1973 to 1976 he was Vice President of the Regional Council, from 1984 to 1989 he was Assessor and Vice President in the regional government.

In addition to his political commitment, Oberhauser made a contribution to the establishment of the South Tyrolean Mining Museum , of which he was president for many years. In 2006 he received the Tyrolean Decoration of Honor for his services .
