Karl Otto Schwatlo
Karl Otto Schwatlo (born May 21, 1867 in Berlin ; † December 15, 1954 in Eisleben ) was a German architect and construction clerk .
Life
Karl Otto Schwatlo was a son of the Berlin architect Carl Schwatlo . He studied structural engineering at the Technical University of Charlottenburg and was appointed government architect ( assessor in public building management) in 1896 after passing the 2nd state examination . After his first job with the district government in Bromberg , he switched to the Reichspostverwaltung and built the post office in Crossen in 1897 . In August 1898 he moved to Frankfurt (Oder) with his wife Gertrud and took the position of urban planning inspector there. After the death of his predecessor Heinrich Malcomeß (1836–1900), Schwatlo was appointed Frankfurt city planner in June 1900. At the beginning of the First World War he was drafted as a reserve officer and commanded a battalion until his demobilization in June 1916 . In January 1922 Schwatlo resigned from the magistrate . He then worked as a building surveyor and building appraiser for the Frankfurt Regional Court and as the main representative of larger insurance companies. At the beginning of 1945 Schwatlo and his wife fled to their son Gerhard, who later moved on to Nuremberg , while the parents found their retirement home in Eisleben.
