Karl Pabst (painter)

Karl (Alfred) Pabst (born December 2, 1884 in Leipzig ; † May 6, 1971 in Bremen ) was a German painter , draftsman and lithographer .

Life

Pabst was the son of a locksmith and tool master. Due to his early talent for drawing, he completed an apprenticeship in lithography and illustrated magazines, among other things. In 1902 he studied at the Royal Academy for Graphic Arts and Book Trade in Leipzig . He then moved to Munich , from where he went on study trips. From 1914 to 1915 he worked as a retoucher in Chemnitz and then until 1918 as a soldier in the First World War . In 1916 he married.

In 1919 he settled in Bremen. He worked as a draftsman and lithographer and soon initiated a lithographic printing and lithography -Anstalt the printing Hauschild . From 1924 to 1925 he was head of the Kito-Packungen AG printing company in Verden . After their bankruptcy, Pabst headed the lithographic establishment of Bremer Druckerei AG . From 1926 to 1932 he was active as a freelance artist; then he worked at the land registry and surveying office in Bremen. After the Second World War he founded a business as a painter and graphic artist in 1954 .

Pabst was known in Bremen as a versatile artist; as a painter for his atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes and as a graphic artist for certificates, maps and advertising illustrations . Many pictures hang out, especially in public buildings in Bremen.
