Karl Randolf
Karl Randolf (born April 15, 1916 in Vienna as Karl Zahradniczek ; † 1993 ) was an Austrian conductor .
Karl Randolf is the son of Karl and Elise Zahradniczek (née Wallner). In 1940 he married Lotte, with whom he has the children Gertraud and Rudolf. In 1968 he married Marlies Oettner, who gave birth to the children Sonja and Christine.
He attended high school and the Vienna State Academy for Music and Performing Arts . He then worked at the Landestheater Linz , from 1939 as second and from 1941 as first opera conductor . From 1942 to 1946 he was in the Wehrmacht and as a prisoner of war. In 1946 he returned to the Landestheater Linz. In 1948 he was chief conductor of the Austrian radio at Radio Graz . This was followed by activities at the Oldenburg State Theater as general music director (1955–1967), at the Innsbruck Municipal Symphony Orchestra as chief conductor (1966–1972), at the Volksoper Vienna as a conductor and in the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera (1983–1986). From 1973 he was head of the conducting class at the Vienna Conservatory .
He has made guest appearances in Europe and overseas.
Karl Randolf was buried in the Perchtoldsdorf cemetery .
