Karl Reuss (prehistoric)

Karl Reuss (born December 1, 1844 in Stuttgart ; † June 5, 1922 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German mining and metallurgical engineer and prehistoric .

Life

Until 1898, Karl Reuss was the mining and smelter director of the Lauchhammer ironworks and the Gröditzer ironworks. After this job he moved to Halle. In 1903 he was elected a member of the administrative committee for the Provincial Museum (today's State Museum of Prehistory ). After the death of the previous museum director, Oscar Förtsch , Reuss was first appointed deputy director on January 1, 1906, and finally regular director on June 13. In 1908 he was appointed a member of the Historical Commission of the Province of Saxony and the Duchy of Anhalt. Reuss retired on July 31, 1912. His successor as museum director was Hans Hahne .

He was editor of the communications from the Provincial Museum of the Province of Saxony in Halle ad Saale and the annual publication for the prehistory of the Saxon-Thuringian countries.
