Carl Rumpff
Carl Heinrich Christian Ludwig Rumpff (born April 30, 1839 in Pyrmont , † June 2, 1889 in Berlin or in today's Wülfrath near the city limits of Wuppertal at Aprath Castle ), in literature also Karl Rumpff , was a partner from 1872 until his death of the paint factories Friedrich Bayer & Co. (today Bayer AG ), from 1881 first chairman of the supervisory board and a Berlin patron . In 1871 he married Friedrich Bayer's eldest daughter, Clara Bayer .
In the mineral collection of the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin there is a portrait of Carl Rumpff, painted by Marie Beyme-Golien, as well as a memorial plaque. In his will, Carl Rumpff bequeathed an extensive mineral collection to the Mineralogical Museum of Berlin University, which he had acquired from Archduke Stephan Victor of Austria and the House of Oldenburg as his heirs. In Leverkusen , Carl-Rumpff-Str. named after him.
