Carl Schirmer

Carl Schirmer (born October 10, 1864 in Winterstetten , Württemberg (today in Leutkirch im Allgäu ), † January 3, 1942 in Pasing ) was a German politician ( center , BVP ).

Life and work

After attending primary school , Schirmer, who was a Roman Catholic , completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith from 1878 to 1880. Then he went on the roll through Belgium, Holland and Switzerland. After the wandering he worked in various mechanical engineering factories as well as in construction and art locksmiths. He formed by attending trade schools in Cologne , Zurich and Munich continued and studied in 1897/98 as a guest student for two semesters economics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich .

Schirmer was involved in the Catholic Labor Movement (KAB) and the Christian Metalworkers' Association , where he had worked as a workers secretary and editor of the association newspaper since the 1890s .

The Schirmerweg in Pasing , where he lived for many years, is named after him.

Political party

Schirmer originally belonged to the center . When its regional association became independent on January 9, 1920 as the Bavarian People's Party , the name the Bavarian center had been using since 1918, he went along this path.

MP

Schirmer was 1899-1907 member of the Landtag in Bayern . From 1907 to 1918 he was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Oberpfalz 4 Neunburg vorm Wald ( Upper Palatinate ). In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . Then he was again a member of the Reichstag until 1928 .
