Karl Schubert (painter)
Franz Karl Schubert (born November 5, 1795 at Himmelpfortgrund , † March 20, 1855 in Vienna ; also Carl Schubert ) was an Austrian landscape painter .
Life
Karl Schubert was a brother of the composer Franz Schubert . He married the cleaner Theresia Schwemminger, a sister of the painters Heinrich and Josef Schwemminger . The painters Ferdinand Schubert and Heinrich Carl Schubert were sons of Karl and Theresia Schubert.
Karl Schubert studied landscape painting at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts from 1811 to 1822 . He won the Gundel Prize in both 1816 and 1817 . His artistic works belong to the collections of the Wien Museum , the Kupferstichkabinett of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and the Kunsthaus Zürich . He was not only active as a painter, but also worked as a writing and drawing teacher for personalities in Viennese society.
Schubert died at the age of 59 in Vienna- Alsergrund .
