Karl Sess

Karl Seß (born April 1, 1855 in Grevesmühlen , † November 19, 1939 in Hamburg ) was a German politician and member of the Hamburg citizenship ( SPD , USPD , KPD ).

Live and act

After completing his apprenticeship as a shoemaker, Karl Seß went hiking . Later he did his military service. He was also professionally active as a shoemaker, trader and factory worker. He became politically active early on and joined the SPD in 1879 and was one of the founders of the SPD local group Güstrow . He was imprisoned for a few weeks under the Socialist Law . Politically, he was also active as a shop steward for the SPD in Mecklenburg and ran unsuccessfully in the constituency of Mecklenburg-Schwerin for the Reichstag in 1898 .

In 1905 he moved to Hamburg and worked there as a master shoemaker. From 1915 he lived in Hamburg-Bergedorf . After the war, Sess became a member of the USPD in 1919 , and at the end of 1920 he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD).

From 1920 to 1927 Seß sat first for the USPD and later for the KPD as a member of the Hamburg citizenship. After that he was a citizen representative and member of the state committee in Bergedorf until 1933. He died in Hamburg in 1939.
