Karl Staab

Karl Staab (born April 25, 1892 in Zellingen , † August 20, 1974 in Würzburg ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman , theologian and exegete .

Life

Karl Staab was ordained a priest on August 7, 1914 . By 1925 he was a chaplain in Würzburg and received his doctorate in 1922 for Dr. theol. in Rome. In 1925 he completed his habilitation in New Testament exegesis at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he worked as a private lecturer .

On May 1, 1929, he became a full professor for New Testament exegesis and biblical hermeneutics at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , and later also dean of the theological faculty of the University of Würzburg. In 1957 he retired .

It was during his professorship Kommorant in Würzburg; In 1964 he was appointed papal house prelate. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (Dr. iur. Hc). He was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Thuringia Würzburg in the CV .

Staab has published numerous works, including as co-editor the Regensburg New Testament and the so-called Real Bible and, together with Franz-Adam Göpfert, a three-volume work on moral theology .
