Karl von Aulock

Karl von Aulock (also Karl Joseph von Aulock ; born October 22, 1771 in Seichwitz bei Rosenberg , † May 3, 1830 in Breslau ) was titular bishop of Morocco and from 1826 to 1830 auxiliary bishop in Breslau .

Life

Karl von Aulock came from the Silesian noble family Aulock . His parents were Karl von Aulock and Josepha, née Wegen. They owned the Seichwitz manor near Rosenberg. Karl von Aulock completed the Humaniora and from 1792 studied philosophy and theology at the Breslau Leopoldina . On February 23rd. J. received the tonsure and the minor orders . From April 1793 he was an alumnus of the alumnate founded under Auxiliary Bishop Elias Daniel von Sommerfeld . On March 21, 1795 he was the Auxiliary Bishop Anton Ferdinand von Rothkirch and Panthen for priests ordained . Then he was a chaplain in Hochkirch for a short time and then pastor in Oppersdorf . As a canon of the Breslau Cathedral , he resided in Breslau from 1805. On July 15, 1810 he became dean at the Glogau Collegiate Foundation . After secularization in 1810, he was accepted into the new cathedral chapter in 1812. He was also the procurator of the Lazarus Hospital, «Magister fabricae» ( master builder ) of the cathedral and cruciform church and councilor in the vicariate general. On September 28, 1825 he became dean of the cathedral .

After the Breslau auxiliary bishop Emanuel von Schimonsky had risen to prince-bishop, Karl von Aulock was appointed his successor in 1826 and was appointed titular bishop of Morocco by the Pope. He was ordained bishop on June 18, 1826 by Prince-Bishop Schimonsky.

During his three-year tenure as auxiliary bishop, he ordained 132 priests. As part of the general visit , he made trips to Sagan and Pless . After a long illness he died on May 3rd, 1830 in Breslau. His body was buried in the canon crypt of the Breslau cathedral.
