Karl von Basse (administrative lawyer, 1810)

Karl von Basse (born January 5, 1810 in Unna , † June 4, 1894 in Burgsteinfurt ) was a Prussian administrative lawyer and district administrator of the Steinfurt district from 1839 to 1877.

Life

Born as the son of the married couple Karl von Basse and Charlotte Elisabeth Adolfine Freiin von Grüter-Morrien, Karl von Basse graduated from high school in Wesel . He studied law for six semesters at the Universities of Halle and Berlin . On August 31, 1832, he passed his auscultator examination before the Berlin Superior Court . On June 29, 1835, he passed the examination for trainee lawyer at the Hamm Higher Regional Court with the result “good”. He fulfilled his military duty as a one-year volunteer with the infantry regiment "Graf Barfuß" (4th Westphalian) No. 17 in Düsseldorf . After several years in the judicial service, he was elected to the second district office candidate in Burgsteinfurt on February 24, 1838 and appointed district administrator of the Steinfurt district on January 21, 1839, subject to the examination. The definitive appointment was on September 18, 1839 after passing the test with "sufficient". He retired on February 1, 1877.

Karl von Basse was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia in 1868 as the representative of Prince Rheina-Wolbeck and from 1873 to 1877 as the representative of Prince zu Bentheim and Steinfurt .

Karl had fourteen siblings. His sister Charlotte was married to the district administrator of the Ahaus Ernst von Westhoven district . His brother Friedrich Wilhelm Gerhard was a Prussian judicial advisor and notary.
