Karl Theodor von Perfall

Karl Theodor Gabriel Christoph Freiherr von Perfall (born March 24, 1851 in Landsberg am Lech ; † August 31, 1924 in Düsseldorf ) was a German journalist, art critic and writer.

Life

Karl Freiherr von Perfall was the nephew of the Munich director of the same name , the brother of the local writer Anton von Perfall and the father of the painter Erich von Perfall .

After successfully studying law in Munich , Perfall devoted himself to art and literature. After longer stays in Dresden , Vienna , Geneva and Paris , he became editor-in-chief of the Düsseldorfer Zeitung in 1879 . From 1886 he wrote in the features section of the Kölnische Zeitung as a correspondent on the most important European art exhibitions.

From 1911 to 1924 he lived in his retirement home "Haus Gierenfeld" in Schönenberg in the Bröltal.

Under the pseudonym Karl Theodor von der Ammer he published in Munich's Bilderbogen, among others .

Both under this pseudonym and under his real name he published a large number of novels and some plays.
