from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karsten Stahl (born March 11, 1969 in Munich ) is a German mechanical engineer and university lecturer . He is a professor in the mechanical engineering department at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is a specialist in machine elements , gears and drive technology .

Career

From 1989 to 1994 Stahl studied mechanical engineering specializing in construction and development at the Technical University of Munich . In 2001 he received his doctorate at the Research Center for Gears and Gear Construction (FZG), the chair for machine elements at TUM . The title of his dissertation was: Dimple load-bearing capacity of case-hardened straight and helical gears .

Between 2001 and 2010 he worked in various positions for the BMW Group : in 2001 he started as a gear developer, later as head of gear development in Dingolfing . In 2006 he moved to Oxford , where he initially worked as quality manager for transmissions and later as quality manager for drivetrain and chassis at the MINI plant . In 2009, he took over responsibility for advance development and innovation management for drive and vehicle dynamics systems at BMW in Munich.

Since 2011 he has been a full professor of the chair for machine elements and head of the research center for gears and gears at the Technical University of Munich . His main research areas include machine elements and drive components such as gears, synchronizers, multi-plate clutches, roller bearings and electromechanical drive systems.
