Karsten Timmermann (* in Hamburg ; † June 9, 1542 in Lübeck ) was councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Karsten Timmermann came from Hamburg. Through his marriage to Elisabeth (Telse) Kruselmann he belonged to the Lübeck patriciate. Her father, the Swedish merchant Bernd Kruselmann († 1529), was a member of the Antonius Brotherhood. At the beginning of the 1520s he and Harmen Israhel were one of the most important donors to Gustav Vasa . Her maternal grandfather was the mayor of Lübeck, Dietrich Basedow . For their daughter's wedding in 1540 they gave their daughter a plate painted by Hans Kemmer with the mercy seat , on which Timmermann's coat of arms, a walking bear, is depicted. Today it is located in Güstrow Castle , the branch of the Schwerin Museum .

He was a Lübeck citizen member of the citizens' committee of the 64 . On April 27, 1531, he was one of seven "note gentlemen" from the committee and joined the Lübeck council . At the beginning of 1533 he resigned from the Lübeck council . After the end of the Wullenwever period in Lübeck, he was re-elected to the Lübeck Council on September 21, 1535, this time through the election provided for by Lübschem law .

In Lübeck he lived in the property at Breite Straße 27, which he had acquired in 1535. His daughter Anna married the Lübeck councilor Anton Holtscho .
