Rudolf Hans Eberhard Struck (* December 4, 1861 , † December 1, 1935 ) was a German doctor and local researcher.

Life

Struck studied medicine from 1883 at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In the same year he was reciprocated in the Corps Holsatia . After his doctorate as Dr. med. (1887) Struck became a general practitioner in Lübeck in 1890. He also served the city as a police doctor for seven years. His work as a doctor, on the other hand, does not make up his importance, but rather his diverse work as a recognized local researcher around Lübeck, which soon made him give up his medical practice in order to devote himself only to his interests. You can limit your activities to five areas: the geology of Schleswig-Holstein, paleontology, biology, Lübeck art history and Lübeck family history. The outstanding main work of Struck is the two-volume cityscape recording The old bourgeois house in Lübeck with its illustrations by Karl Gatermann the Elder , which today is an indispensable documentation of the Gothic-Low German cityscape and a source of building research on the world cultural heritage of Lübeck's old town . He is the author of numerous contributions and essays on questions of medieval sculpture and paintings in Lübeck or with reference to Lübeck. Struck made itself as a promoter of art and artists in Lübeck name as a patron . As honorary chairman of the board of directors of the cultural history and art collections, together with chairman Rudolf Keibel , he made a declaration of honor for the Lübeck museum director Carl Georg Heise when he was sharply attacked during the time of the Weimar Republic from the circle of German national circles of the Lübeck citizenship for his progressive museum policy .
