Dietrich Basedow (* around 1420; † March 26, 1501 ) was a councilor, businessman and member of the circle society in Lübeck .

Life

Dietrich Basedow was the son of Berend Basedow from Lüneburg. In 1443 Dietrich was enrolled at the University of Rostock .

In 1456 he was accepted as a half member of the circle society. In 1477 Basedow was elected councilor . Between 1479 and 1486 he was Weddeherr with interruptions , in 1480, 1484, 1487, 1490, 1493, 1497, 1499 and 1501 Schossherr . Only two years after his admission to the Lübeck Council did he become a full member of the Circle Society ( membership number 227 ). During his membership he worked as a carnival poet (1457, 1461, 1466) and as a gift (1458, 1484) and as a schaffer (1490). In 1478 he rented the house, which he and Johann Lüneburg in Königstr. 21 , to the Circle Society through the winter, and the following year they sold the house to the Society. He also belonged to the Antonius and Corpse Brotherhood and the Merchants Company in Lübeck . In 1487 he was head of the Petrikirche .

Basedow operated extensive trade in the Netherlands, Skåne, Danzig and Prussia ( Hanseatic League ). His range of goods ranged from herring, oil, salt, wood to towels. In Lübeck he owned several properties, for example in the Große Petersgrube 21-23 (his house), An der Trave 17, Königstr. 21, Große Petersgrube 10, Depenau 23-25 ​​and 33 and Dankwartsgrube 18. In his will of November 18, 1483, he made legacies worth over 10,000 Mk. His family was given rich consideration, but also all Lübeck churches and monasteries Sums of money were allocated to hospitals, poor houses and infirmaries.

Basedow was buried in Lübeck Cathedral . His grave slab is documented, but no longer verifiable.

His father was Bernhard Basedow (dead in 1453), who was married to Ermgard van Hage and Adelheid Bardewik and who immigrated from Lüneburg to Lübeck at the beginning of the 15th century . Dietrich was married (1.) Heleke Lüneburg, daughter of Bertram Lüneburg , member of the circle society. (2.) 1483 with Telseke Pleskow, daughter of Jordan Pleskow and Taleke (Adelheid von Eltzen).
