history

The Kartungs clubhouse, the pirate inn, completed in 1987

Mapping was first mentioned in 1272 on the occasion of a donation to the Allerheiligen monastery . The street village was expanded by new development areas in the 20th century. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the village community and the Kartung street festival, work began in Kartung in 1978 as part of the national competition Our village should become more beautiful . In the course of this, a sports and festival area and a club house were built, entrance boards were set up and three fountains were built. The clubhouse was built by 179 helpers in just under one and a half years from spring 1986 to summer 1987 without wages. The Kreuzplatz was redesigned in 1998 and a pirate figure, the Kartungs trademark, was integrated.

Parish

The Kartunger Church

The construction of the Kartung church in the neo-Romanesque style began in 1902. The financial basis for this was a donation from childless Franz Zeitvogel from Leiberstung , who left 9,000 marks in his will for the construction of a chapel in the Kartung district. Originally it was supposed to be dedicated to St. Francis , but was finally consecrated as St. Mary's Church in 1904 by Franz Xaver Lender. The last renovation took place in 2005. The organ of the church was co-financed by donations of 35,000 DM from the Kartunger Verein.
