Kasatchok Superstar is the debut album by the Austrian band Russkaja . It was released on February 22, 2008.

production

After two years as a live band and several changes in line-up, the first long player appeared: The production of the album was under the direction of guitarist Zebo Adam and saxophonist Manfred Franzmeier , the lyrics are by the Russian-born singer and owner of the recording studio, Georgij Alexandrowitsch Makazaria , and by Titus Vadon ( Drummer and gray eminence ). Originally, the tracks were supposed to be recorded without Antonia-Alexa Georgiew , but this met with (understandable) resistance from the producer team.

In addition to the CD, a documentary about the band was produced, in which the statements of all band members about the album and opinions on the international performances in Switzerland and Croatia can be found. The founding of the band is also documented.

The album was released under the label "Chat Chapeau", distribution was taken over by the Viennese cultural publishing house Hoanzl .

music

Musically, the album is difficult to classify. On the one hand elements of Russian folk music are used, on the other hand the instrumentation corresponds to that of Ska and Punk . In this case, the high tempo of the rhythm should also be underlined.

reception

In autumn 2007 the album was preceded by the first single release "Dope Shit" ("Dope S ** t"), which could not be found on any sales list. Only in the listener charts of the youth channel FM4 was it able to occupy 11th place.

The album went straight to the Ö3 Austria Top 40 after its release and was ranked 29th. In the following week, it was even able to improve to 15th place before slipping back again. The album stayed in the Austrian charts for a total of 14 weeks.
