Kaspar Gropper
Kaspar Gropper (* 1519 in Soest , North Rhine-Westphalia ; † March 19, 1594 in Cologne ) was a Catholic theologian , church politician and lawyer at the time of the Reformation .
Life
He was born on March 7, 1542 to the doctor of rights doctorate . 1547 he became dean in Xanten , on February 3, 1550 Offizial and 1552 canon of the archbishopric of Cologne . That same year he was also dean of the pin Marie degrees in Cologne .
In 1558 he traveled to Rome with his brother Johannes Gropper and in 1560 became an auditor of the Rota Romana .
On July 19, 1573, he and Nikolaus Elgard were sent to Germany as nuncio , where he carried out visitations and negotiated the highly controversial appointment of a bishop in the diocese of Münster . In 1575 he resigned from this office.
