Kaspar Knobel

Kaspar Knobel (born February 23, 1882 in Altendorf , † January 4, 1953 in Schwyz ) was a Swiss forester and politician ( Catholic Conservative ).

biography

Kaspar Knobel graduated from high school in Schwyz and studied forestry at the Polytechnic in Zurich from 1902 to 1905 . In 1906 he entered the civil service and was adjunct forestry in the canton of Schwyz until 1923 , and then until 1953 as chief forester. He was considered an expert in reforestation of windthrow areas.

From 1929 to 1938 he was a member of the commission of the Swiss Forest Association and was its president from 1935 to 1938. From 1928 to 1944 he was a member of the Schwyz Cantonal Council , which he also chaired in 1938/1939. From 1943 to 1953 he was a member of the National Council for the Catholic Conservatives , where he was a member of numerous commissions. In 1953 he was followed by Josef Ulrich in the National Council .

He married Josefine Henggeler in 1912. Since his student days he was a member of the Catholic fraternity AV Turicia .
