Kasper Niesiecki (born December 31, 1682 - † July 9, 1744 in Krasnystaw ) was a Polish Jesuit and heraldist .

Life

Kasper Niesiecki came from a family in Greater Poland . He attended the Jesuit school in Krosno . In 1699 he began the Jesuit novitiate in Krakow . From 1701 to 1704 he studied philosophy in Lublin and obtained his master's degree . He then continued his studies in Krosno and Lublin and Lutsk before he began studying theology in 1707 at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. At the age of 28, Niesiecki was ordained a priest .

He then taught rhetoric and poetics , first from 1712 to 1713 in Bydgoszcz and following 1713 to 1714 in Konitz , finally, 1714-1715 rhetoric and mathematics in Kalisz . From 1715 to 1723 he worked as a priest in Mazovia , Cracow, Lublin, Kalisch, Lemberg and Krasnystaw, where he had his permanent residence in the monastery from 1724 . There he was first head of the seminary and taught moral theology for the next four years. Here he wrote his much-noticed four-volume work on the Polish nobility and their coat of arms . From 1727 he headed the church there and had his main work in pastoral care . From 1740 to 1741 he was temporarily in charge of the seminary in Sandomierz .
