Kastinger is a brand for mountain , hiking and leisure shoes.

In 1909, Hermann Kastinger founded the Kastinger parent company in Seewalchen am Attersee . At the beginning, the company produced women's and men's shoes as well as mountain boots . At that time, Fischer for skis, Tyrolia for ski bindings and Kastinger for ski boots were the world's largest companies in the respective product segment in Austria.

In 1974 Kastinger equipped various athletes . In 1976, athletes equipped by Kastinger achieved Olympic successes at the Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck . In addition, various mountain expeditions were equipped with Kastinger products. The Austrian extreme mountaineer Peter Habeler decided to wear only Kastinger climbing shoes this year . The company's expansion also continued: by 1977, Kastinger had manufactured up to 2,400 shoes a day on a work surface of 18,000 square meters.

On May 8, 1978, the extreme mountaineers Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler succeeded as the first people to climb Mount Everest without the aid of bottled oxygen. Both wore Kastinger shoes. The Kastinger brand will remain. In 2009 the Kastinger brand celebrated its 100th anniversary . In 2012 the Kastinger brand was relaunched . Together with the new slogan “Tradition in Motion”, that was a new start for the brand. In 2016, Lemipan from Pirmasens became the new licensee of the Kastinger brand.
