Disaster control medals from the state of Hesse

Civil protection decorations are awarded in the field of civil protection for long periods of service, for special merits in disaster protection or for particularly courageous behavior in disaster cases. These decorations often include the extensive area of ​​non-police security such as disaster control, civil protection and rescue services.

The decorations are donated by the federal states that are responsible for averting danger in the event of a disaster.

The award criteria of the disaster control decorations are based on the fire brigade or fire protection decorations and are combined with one another in some federal states.

Baden-Württemberg

In 2016, a civil protection badge of honor was donated in Baden-Württemberg , which was awarded for the first time in 2017. At the same time, the Civil Protection Mission Medal was created.

  • Civil protection badge: special service to civil protection or particularly courageous and determined behavior
  • Civil Protection Mission Medal: 24 hour assistance in a special civil protection mission

Bavaria

In Bavaria , an ambulance service and disaster control medal has been awarded to individual aid organizations since 2013, analogous to the fire service medal. These include the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe (JUH), the Malteser Hilfsdienst (MHD), the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG) and the Bavarian State Association of Technical Aid (THW). Management units that are not part of the named organizations will not be considered. In December 2017, it was decided to introduce a great badge of honor for 50 years of active service in the fire brigade, rescue service and disaster control. The classification is identical for all organizations. There are four levels with the following names:

  • Second class decoration in silver: 25 years of activity
  • First class medal of honor in gold: 40 years of activity
  • Great badge of honor: 50 years of activity
  • Decoration of honor as a plug-in cross: special merits

Berlin

In Berlin, the Fire Brigade and Disaster Protection Decoration is awarded in six stages. It was donated in 1978 and expanded in 2000 and 2016.

  • Fire service and disaster control medal in gold on ribbon: 25 years of voluntary work
  • Fire brigade and disaster control medal in gold with oak leaves on the ribbon: 40 years of voluntary work
  • Fire brigade and disaster control medal in gold with oak leaves on the ribbon: 50 years of voluntary work
  • Fire brigade and disaster control medal in gold with oak leaves on a ribbon: 60 years of voluntary work
  • Fire brigade and disaster control medals in gold as a cross: special merit and courageous assistance

Hesse

In 2003, Hessen donated two different medals, each in three stages, for disaster control: the disaster control merit medal and the disaster control medal for long service. The mission medal “Abroad” was donated in 2014 as an award to honor merits in disaster control operations of the state of Hesse abroad. There is only one level.

North Rhine-Westphalia

In 2016 the land located North Rhine-Westphalia , the decorations in the fire and disaster protection new. Saarland

The Saarland has been awarding the Disaster Protection Decoration in two stages since 2007 .

  • Civil protection badge of honor in gold as a plug-in cross: courageous aid

Saxony

In Saxony , the fire brigade badge of honor , which had existed since 1992, was converted into a fire brigade and helper badge of honor with five levels in 2013 .

  • Fire brigade and helper decorations in silver on ribbon: 25 years of activity

Saxony-Anhalt

In 2005, in Saxony-Anhalt , the fire and disaster prevention decorations of Saxony-Anhalt donated in three stages.

  • Fire protection and disaster control medal in silver on ribbon: 25 years of special personal merits
  • Fire protection and disaster control medal in gold on ribbon: 40 years of multiple excellent services
  • Fire protection and disaster control medals in gold as a cross-connector: particularly outstanding merits

Thuringia

Thuringia has been awarding a disaster control medal in three stages since 2009 .

  • Civil protection medal in bronze: 10 years of activity
  • Silver disaster control medal: 25 years of activity
  • Gold disaster control medal: 40 years of activity
