epitaph

In the parish church of St. Gotthardt there is a rich epitaph which is dedicated to the couple Michael During and Katharina Zieriss and represents them. The late Renaissance style epitaph is made of white, partially painted and gilded sandstone . In addition to the pair , it depicts caryatids , masks and putti . The predella is two-story. In it, among other things, a small angel with an hourglass and a skull is incorporated, which illustrates the mortality of humans. The crucifixion of Christ is depicted in the central main picture , in front of which the couple prays kneeling. Michael During on the left, Katharina Zieriss on the right. The bezel shows the resurrection of Jesus Christ .
