The Katharina von Bora is a river cruise ship built in 2000 . The namesake Katharina von Bora was the wife of the German reformer Martin Luther .

The operational area of the ship is the Elbe with the Vltava . It is also used on the Potsdam – Stralsund route on the Oder-Havel Canal , the German section of the Oder and the Baltic Sea .

There are trips from Potsdam to Prague all year round . On this route, the cities of Dresden , Magdeburg , Meißen and Melnik , among others , are approached.

history

In 2009 the Katharina von Bora was sold to a Swiss group of companies in the course of the bankruptcy proceedings of the shipping company Peter Deilmann - together with six other river cruise ships belonging to the shipping company. Katharina von Bora chartered this out to Nicko Tours or, after consultation, with other travel companies. After the tour operator also went bankrupt , it changed its name and the associated conditions to Nicko Cruises . In this context, the interior of the ships was rebuilt and the exterior paintwork changed: more conspicuous colors dominate.
