Kathy Boudin

Kathy Boudin (born May 19, 1943 in Greenwich Village , New York City ) is an American health and social scientist . She is a professor at Columbia University and works on programs for HIV- infected people at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital.

As a member of the Weather Underground , she was involved in various activities of the organization. She was sentenced to 20 years to life for the robbery carried out together with members of the Black Liberation Army on a Brink’s money transporter in Rockland County on October 20, 1981 (Brink’s robbery) . Boudin drove the getaway car in the robbery in which three people were shot. Her son, then 14 months old, Chesa Boudin, was raised by former members of the Weather Underground, Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers . After 22 years in prison, she was paroled in 2003. Chesa's father, David Gilbert, is serving a sentence of 75 years to life for his involvement in the Brink's robbery .

Due to her many years of work with HIV- infected prisoners, after her release she got a job at the AIDS clinic at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City . During her detention she pursued doktorale studies in the field of social sciences sheep Tenenbaums and received in 2004 her Doctor of Education from Teachers College of Columbia University . Since 2008 she has been a professor at the university's Columbia School of Social Work . Kathy Boudin's attitude was harshly criticized by conservatives and survivors of the victims of the 1981 robbery.
