Life

Katie Jarvis grew up in Essex and has three siblings. Her parents separated and she lived with her mother, a hairdresser, and her partner until 2008. The unemployed high school leaver was discovered by a casting agent at Tilbury train station in Essex , England , in 2008 while she was having an argument with her boyfriend. At first she didn't believe the agent, but still got her card and finally took part in the regular auditions for Andrea Arnold's film Fish Tank . The drama tells the story of the rebellious teenager Mia, who lives with her single mother (played by Kierston Wareing ) in an English social estate and is inclined to alcohol and breakdancing .

Although she had no acting training and had an aversion to dancing in front of an audience, Jarvis secured the lead in Arnold's film, which won an award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009 and which also earned Jarvis great critical acclaim for her first film role.

Since the success of Fish Tank , Katie Jarvis has taken acting classes and is represented by artist agencies in the UK and United States. In 2012 she played a supporting role in the film "Your Sister's Sister".

She gave birth to a daughter in May 2009 and a son in April 2011.
