Katrin Kauschke

Katrin Kauschke (born September 13, 1971 in Braunschweig ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic participant.

Career

Katrin Kauschke started at Eintracht Braunschweig , but later moved to the Berliner HC , with whom she won four German championships from 1994 to 2000.

In 1989 Katrin Kauschke was junior world champion. In the same year, the midfielder made her debut in the German national hockey team . After the team had finished eighth at the 1990 World Cup , the team came second at the 1991 European Championship . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Kauschke played two games and won the silver medal.

In addition, on June 23, 1993, she received the Silver Laurel Leaf.

This was followed by fourth place at the 1994 World Cup and bronze at the 1995 European Championship . In their second Olympic participation in Atlanta in 1996 , the German team finished sixth. Her only medal at a hockey world championship was won by Kauschke in Utrecht in 1998 , when the German team beat the Argentinians for third place. At the European Championships in 1999 and at the FIH Champions Trophy 2000, the German team took second place. After finishing seventh at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , she ended her international career. From 1989 to 2000, Katrin Kauschke played a total of 190 international matches, 8 of them indoors.

Katrin Kauschke studied medicine during her athletic career and graduated from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1999 . She is a doctor at the Institute for Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Hamburg , married to Hendrik Lange and the mother of two children.
