Katrin Kunert (painter)

Katrin Kunert (* 1962 in Leipzig ) is a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

Kunert grew up near Dresden and, after graduating from high school, initially completed an apprenticeship as a display designer . From 1982 she studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB) in the field of painting / graphics with Hildegard Korger and Rolf Kuhrt . She obtained her diploma for free graphics in 1989. Since then she has been working as a freelance artist in Leipzig in the fields of painting and graphic design. Between 1992 and 1993 she undertook postgraduate studies at the HGB Leipzig. In 1995 she took part in an international collotype workshop in Leipzig.

Since 1994 she has worked as a cultural pedagogue at Haus Steinstrasse eV in Leipzig. In the period up to 1997 Kunert worked mainly with children and young people and in this role led a. a. the "Bleilaus-Verlag - books by children for children". From 1998 to 2004 she was teaching in the basic studies of painting / graphics at the HGB Leipzig, in 2004 she was teaching at the Dresden Summer Academy, and since 2008 at the Leipzig Summer Academy. From 2006 to 2012 she held a professorship for the basics of painting and graphics at the HGB Leipzig.

Katrin Kunert exhibited in Leipzig, Hamburg, Dresden, Hanover, Berlin, Erfurt, Frankfurt am Main and New York. She has lived and worked in Leipzig since 1989 and is a member of the painterinnenNetzWerk Berlin-Leipzig eV association founded in 2015 , which pursues "the goal of increasing national and international visibility of women artists".
