Female painter network Berlin-Leipzig e. V. (spelling: MalerinnenNetzWerk Berlin-Leipzig; abbreviation MNW ; English Women Painters 'Network ) is the name of an artists' association of female painters from Berlin and Leipzig who pursue the goal of making women's painting art more nationally and internationally public through joint exhibitions increase.

Origin, goals and reception

Kathrin Landa is the initiator of the network. She brought it into being on the occasion of the exhibition The Better Half - Women Painters from Leipzig , in which exhibits from three generations of women artists were shown. Painters from the Berlin traveling exhibition Painting was a Lady followed. Members of the network have been exhibiting together since autumn 2015. In addition to the exhibitions, the professional exchange among each other at regular meetings in the studios and mutual support are just as much part of the activities as the development of new exhibition concepts. The association was founded in November 2016. A five-person organizational team consists of Isabelle Dutoit, Marianna Krueger, Kathrin Landa, Ann-Katrin Schaffner and Alex Tennigkeit.

On the occasion of the exhibition paint application with 22 female painters of the network 2017 in Berlin, Julius Tambornino described the issue in kunst: art : “As part of the initiative of the female painters network, which wants to create a symbiosis between the capital and the Leipzig scene, the painting art of women in the picture to be better positioned with the public - a target formulation which unfortunately still has its justification in view of the existing dominance of men in this industry too. "

Christoph Schütte wrote in the FAZ about her exhibition Painting XXL 2018 in Frankfurt : “There is indeed something to see what many a beholder's heart desires more than anything else these days in the sometimes somewhat brittle art world: fed up with painting. […] Only female painters, mind you, who have exhibited in Berlin, Leipzig and Lüneburg since they came together in 2015 to form the “Berlin-Leipzig Female Painters Network”. […] Networking is also the magic word in contemporary art. "
