Katy Louise Marchant (born January 30, 1993 in Leeds ) is a British cyclist.

Athletic career

Katy Marchant was initially active as a heptathlete until her performance on the ergometer caught the attention of Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill's trainer and he recommended her to the British Cycling Association . In April 2013 she was accepted into the Olympic Academy Program and a little later into the Association's Podium Program . In the same year she was on the podium in several disciplines at British rail championships.

In the following year, Marchant won the bronze medal in Keirin at the European Rail Championships (U23) , and in 2015 she won the title. In the same year she became British champion in the Keirin, 500-meter time trial and team sprint (with Jessica Varnish ) disciplines .

In 2016 Katy Marchant was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There she won the bronze medal in the sprint . In 2018 she competed in the Commonwealth Games with Lauren Bate in the team sprint; the duo took third place. She also became a two-time British champion in the sprint and 500-meter time trial. In 2019 she won the Keirin competition at the World Cup in Glasgow .
