Katzenbuckel (Michelstadt)

The Katzenbuckel is 449.3  m above sea level. NN high wooded mountain in the Odenwald and the most famous elevation in the district of Weiten-Gesäß of the city of Michelstadt in the Odenwaldkreis in Hesse . It has the same name as the Katzenbuckel ( 626.8  m above sea level ), the highest peak in the entire Odenwald near Eberbach am Neckar .

The Katzenbuckel lies in the red sandstone Odenwald on a foothill of the ridge that separates the Mümlingtal from the Mudtal . This foothill starts at Eulbach ( 510  m above sea level ) and extends as a ridge about three kilometers to the first houses of Weiten-Gesäß ( 370  m above sea level ) in a north-northwest direction between the brook on the Schlehengrund (left ) and the stream at the old bottom (right). Shortly before the location, the Katzenbuckel has a secondary peak called Zuckerbuckel ( 430  m above sea level ).

The Katzenbuckel is set off in the ridge that carries it by no noticeable notches on topographical maps . In the perspective from the wide buttocks, however, it stands out as a hump . From here a forest path leads along the ridge line over the Katzenbuckel up to Eulbach.
